If you plug the best cord in the world into a vintage Strat with single coil pickups, you will clearly hear the same hum you hear with all other types of cables. That said, shielding gets you only so far with gui tars, because all guitars act like magnetic noise collectors by design. The Real Tone cable features none of these additional components. It is not up to the quality of a Mogami or Monster, which will have several layers of foil and/or braid, a drain wire, and a conductive buffer around the center conductor to prevent the cord from acting like a microphone. In terms of construction, the "guitar end" of the cord has a standard cheap "90%" shield, which will significantly cut down on EMI noise. Shielding can come in many, many forms, though. A guitar cord consists of a spun or braided ground conductor or shield with a much smaller center conductor inside it much like a cable TV cord. That's just a matter of how they're made. Technically, all guitar cords are shielded.
